Bayley Celebrates Dedication of New Addition
Bayley Retirement Community celebrated the completion of an expansion project, adding twenty new assisted living memory support apartments and a power plant, with a blessing and dedication ceremony held on Thursday, January 26th.
Since 1990, Bayley’s main building depended on heating and cooling from the Sisters of Charity Motherhouse. The power plant is located across the street and heat and air was transported by way of underground pipes. When initial plans for a Bayley power plant were discussed, it offered an opportunity to build two additional floors and add twenty additional apartments, addressing a growing need for senior living options in the community. The project, which began in the fall of 2015, was completed this past September and within two months, all rooms were occupied. In addition, Bayley now provides and maintains its own high efficiency heating and cooling systems.
Gathered in the Enrichment Center, Adrienne Walsh, Bayley President and CEO, welcomed guests and recognized the many individuals who participated in transforming the expansion plan from an idea to a reality. Special acknowledgement was extended to the Sisters of Charity who have actively supported each phase of Bayley’s growth for the past 25 years. Additional guest speakers shared their thoughts and well wishes. Sister Patricia Sabourin, Bayley Board Member and Sisters of Charity Liaison, spoke fondly of Bayley as the Sisters of Charity ministry that proactively addresses the needs of seniors. Her work on the Board, various committees and as a pastoral volunteer enables her to experience Bayley on many levels. Ken Ryan, Fort Washington Investment Advisors Vice President and Bayley Board Chair, shared the many ways Bayley supports the needs of seniors. He thanked those who unselfishly give of their time and talents to offer guidance, lend their expertise and help shape the future of our organization for the good of those we serve. Doug Bennett, Special Project Manager for Turner Construction Company, conveyed his company’s long standing history of expansion projects with Bayley and their own witness to the day-to-day caregiving that demonstrates our mission in action. Bayley Director of Planned Gifts, Steven Breidenich, commended the many funders who share in our commitment and help bring projects such as this newest addition to fruition. Greg DeLong, Interim Administrator and present Community Development Director for Delhi Township presented Adrienne Walsh with a Proclamation, declaring it “Bayley Assisted Living Memory Support Facility Dedication Day” in Delhi Township.
Mike Davis, Bayley Pastoral Care Director, then introduced Fr. Rey Taylor, Pastor of St. Joseph Church who dedicated the addition and blessed the crosses to be hung in each new resident’s room. As a tribute to this memorable occasion, a time capsule filled with mementos from Bayley’s twenty-five year history, the Sisters of Charity and Delhi Township was installed in the front lobby wall, to be opened again in the year 2040. The ceremony closed with a beautiful arrangement of the “Our Father” sung by Mike Davis and accompanied by Jim Dickman on the piano. The evening concluded with guided tours of the new addition followed by a reception, graciously sponsored by Turner Construction and Fifth Third Bank.
